The Goto Date box will accept a multitude of date formats. The following
produce the same dates:
- 11/2/04
- 2004-11-2
- november 2 2004
It will also do date math:
- +3 months
- +8 weeks
- 11/2/1976 +45 years
- -3 days
Note that the operator (+ or -) must be immediately followed by a number. This will use the current date as a base, no matter what date you are viewing. If you are looking at November of 1982 and you want to see December 1982. Using math you would type "Nov 1982 +1 month" not just "+1 month" which would give you 1 month from now, not 1 month from Nov 1982. Of course, you could just type "Dec 1982."
This is just an example.
Plain English as well:
- next week
- next tues
- next June
- Jan
- December
- 10/1/1976 Wed
(the first Wednesday in October of 1976)
The same rules apply as when doing date math. It will use the current date
as a base.
If it's Dec of 2005, and
you type in "January" it will bring you to January of 2005. To get to January
of 2006, you can type "next jan", "next january", "next month". Following the
same logic, "last January" et al will bring you to January of 2004.
All dates are subject to interpretation by your language setting. E.g. 2/5/2004 would be read as May 2nd, 2004 in English (GB), Feb 5th in English (US), German uses dd.mm.yyyy .. etc..
